Hey, this was us! These are beautiful words!! Thank you for being wonderful :)
Joyce, who is simply amazing, was able to bring Everyone is Gay to our school today to talk about bullying and being nice and stuff. They were super funny and great people and now I have three stickers from them.
I think I was the only person who cried during it, though.
When they were talking about all of the people who were bullied so early in their lives to the point of suicide for just being themselves, it really hit my heart. Not that it was new information, it’s just really hard to listen to. And the tears really started coming when they were talking about labels. How people find the need to be labeled “gay” or “bi” or something. I mean, we’re human. It makes us feel more comfortable when we know what we’re called. But the label thing was really refreshing to hear - that you are who you are and no name will alter that or make you more in tune with yourself. You can call yourself straight, but that may only lead to more confusion if you start to think or act outside of your label.
I’m going to stop before I start crying again…
